California — enacted future RON authorization, but California notaries cannot generally perform RON yet.
Connecticut — permits a paper-based form of remote notarization, not conventional electronic RON.
Georgia — does not currently authorize its notaries to perform permanent RON.
Massachusetts — enacted authorization, but full implementation remains pending.
Mississippi — does not authorize conventional RON.
South Carolina — does not currently authorize its notaries to perform conventional RON.

The signer may generally be anywhere, although the agency, title company, court, lender or other recipient can still refuse a particular document or require in-person notarization. The NNA specifically confirms this rule for Florida notaries. National Notary Association RON guidance� and Florida Statute §117.265�.
